A device checkout and inventory log that lives in a single HTML file — no install, no account, no internet after the first load. A small IT shop or school adds its loaner laptops, projectors and tools once, then checks them out and back in with a click. A live dashboard and activity log track what's out and what's overdue. Free to use; a one-time CA$59 Pro add-on turns it into webcam scanning, alerts and multi-computer sync.
This is the actual tool — not a screenshot. The frame below loads the AssetInventory landing straight from the server. Scroll it, then jump into the full app below.

Hand-written HTML, CSS and JavaScript — no framework, no build step. Every asset and every checkout event lives in the browser via localStorage. Pro's shared-file sync is the one optional exception, and even that is just a JSON file you point it at — no server of ours in the middle.

The real app. Add an asset, check it out with a borrower and due date, then check it back in. Nothing is sent anywhere — edits live only in this browser. Best experienced in its own tab.
From a blank list to a fully tracked equipment closet in a few clicks — no spreadsheet, no separate sign-out sheet.
+ Add asset — a name, a category (Laptop, Projector…) and a tag or serial number if it has one. Ten seconds each.
One click on the card. Name the borrower and, optionally, a due date — that's what powers the overdue flag later.
Total, checked out, overdue and available update live. Filter chips and search find any asset in seconds.
One click. The activity log records it automatically — no separate sign-in sheet to reconcile.
The free single file covers the whole checkout-log loop. Drop assetinventory-pro.js next to it and a Pro tools menu adds nine more.
Name, category and an optional tag or serial number — laptops, projectors, tools, anything loaned out.
One click each way. Check-out captures a borrower and an optional due date; check-in clears it and logs the return.
Search by name, tag or borrower, or filter by Available / Checked out / Overdue. Categories organize themselves as you use them.
Total, checked out, overdue and available update instantly; a running feed logs every checkout and check-in automatically.
Point the camera at an asset's tag and it opens check-out or check-in instantly. Falls back to typing the tag on browsers without a scanner.
A dashboard banner the moment anything is late, plus optional desktop notifications the instant an item crosses into overdue.
Point every computer at one file on a shared drive — changes merge automatically, newest edit per asset wins. No server.
Add department, condition, purchase date, or anything else you track — shows up on every asset and in CSV exports.
Bulk-load an existing spreadsheet of equipment, and export the full asset list or activity log for backup or audit.
Every checkout an asset has ever had — who, when, and the average loan length. Not just "currently out."
A label sheet, one QR per asset, ready to print and stick on the item — closing the loop with the scanner.
Book an asset for a future date range with a real month calendar, and a conflict warning if two bookings overlap.
Most-borrowed assets, average loan length, a category breakdown and a live overdue list — exportable as CSV.
A small IT shop or school either pays a per-asset SaaS subscription to track loaner gear, or runs a spreadsheet with no checkout workflow. Here is where a single-file tool lands next to them.
