A digital menu board for small restaurants and food trucks that lives in a single HTML file — no POS to integrate, no account, no monthly fee. Open it on a tablet or a TV, add your categories, prices and photos from local files, and press Board view. Untick an item to 86 it, edit a price and the screen updates live. Built to run offline on whatever screen you already have.
This is the actual app — not a screenshot. The frame below loads it straight from the server. Load the sample menu, edit an item, hit ▶ Board view and see it fill the screen.
Desktop — 1280 px
Mobile — 390 px
Your whole menu — categories, prices, photos, colours — is saved to the browser on that device. Copy menulead.html onto a USB stick and it runs on the counter tablet with the Wi-Fi unplugged — the same on Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, a TV stick or an old iPad. Nothing to log into mid-service.

Use File ▸ Load sample menu for a food-truck menu to play with, then press Board view. Nothing is sent anywhere — edits live only in this browser and clear when you do. Best experienced in its own tab.
From a blank screen to a menu board a customer can read across the room — a few minutes, no design software.
Type your restaurant or truck name in the header and add a logo in Settings. Set the currency symbol while you're there.
Make a category (Tacos, Drinks…), then + Add item for each dish — name, price, an optional description, and a photo from a file on that device.
1–3 columns, dark or light, an accent colour to match your branding, photos on or off, and an auto-rotate time for a TV.
One button fills the screen. Drag it to your TV or leave it on the tablet — it updates the moment you edit an item or 86 something.
No plugins, no page builder, no framework. One hand-written HTML file of vanilla HTML, CSS and JavaScript — open it and go.
Group dishes into sections, add each with a name, price and optional description, and reorder anything with ▲▼.
Pick a photo from the device for any item. MenuLead resizes it and stores it in the menu file itself — nothing is uploaded.
Big type, category headings, dotted price leaders, your logo and a footer line for hours or wifi. Made for a mounted tablet or a TV.
Restaurant name and logo, currency symbol, 1–3 columns, dark or light theme, and an accent colour that sets headings and the Special tag.
Untick Available and it drops off the board instantly; re-tick it when it's back. Nothing is deleted, and prices update live.
Flag a dish as a special and it gets a tag on the board. (Pro adds a scheduler so specials show only on the right days.)
Set a number of seconds and a long menu scrolls itself, top to bottom and back, so a wall screen is never stuck on one section.
One click loads a full food-truck menu so you can see the board, the Special tag and the layout before typing your own.
The same menu as a clean printable sheet — a paper menu or a takeaway handout straight from the browser's "Save as PDF".
Every category, price, photo and setting persists to the browser via localStorage as you type. Reopen tomorrow, it's all there.
Save menu (.json) keeps the whole menu — photos included — as one file, and Open menu… loads it on a second screen.
Runs entirely in the browser on that device. No sign-in, no cloud, no tracking, no POS account — your menu stays on your own screen.

Most small rooms either pay a monthly menu or signage service, rebuild a slide deck for every price change, or take a revenue cut on QR ordering. Here is where a single-file tool lands next to them.
| Option | Cost | Model | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| QR-menu SaaSHosted service | $19–49 / month per location | Subscription + account | Polished, but the menu goes dark if you stop paying, and you're editing it inside someone else's dashboard |
| QR ordering + payments platformHosted | $0 upfront · ~2–4% per order | Free tier, revenue share | No monthly fee, but a cut of every ticket forever and a payments account to set up and reconcile |
| Digital-signage appCloud CMS | $10–25 / month per screen | Per-screen subscription | Great for a chain with an IT person; heavy and pricey for one tablet on a food-truck window |
| Slides on a USB stickPowerPoint / Canva | $0 – included | Rebuild the deck each time | Free and offline, but no item logic — every price change or sold-out item is a manual edit to a slide |
| MenuLeadSingle HTML file — this project | $0 to run · optional CA$27 one-time Pro | None — open menulead.html |
Nothing to install or subscribe to; the board itself runs offline on any screen with a browser, live 86 / price edits, one-file backup. Pro QR ordering has no per-order cut, but needs the menu hosted somewhere guests can reach it from their own phones |
